Client Experiences
"We had been running manual inspection on our PCB line for years — operator fatigue was a genuine problem on the evening shift. Cortexia came in, spent time understanding the actual defect categories we cared about, and delivered a system that now runs reliably through three shifts. The handover documentation was thorough; our team could make minor adjustments without going back to them."

"We needed a footfall tracking system for three of our Klang Valley outlets — not just a count, but zone-level dwell time data. Cortexia were straightforward about what was feasible with our existing ceiling cameras and what was not. The system has been running since January and the data is useful. I would have liked slightly faster turnaround on the reporting dashboard integration, but the core model performed well from day one."

"Our content library had grown to over 200,000 images with very inconsistent tagging from multiple teams over the years. Cortexia built a classification system that processed the backlog and applied a consistent taxonomy. They were patient during the taxonomy design phase — it took longer than expected because we kept refining categories, but they accommodated the changes without complaint."

"What I appreciated most was how Cortexia approached the scoping conversation. They asked questions about our actual production setup — not a generic consultation checklist — and gave us an honest assessment of what precision we could expect with the data volume we had at the time. That transparency made the decision easy. The project came in on scope and the model has been stable since deployment."

"We use the detection system for monitoring high-value goods movement in our Shah Alam warehouse. The edge deployment means it works even when internet connectivity is inconsistent — which was a specific concern for us. Setup took a few weeks longer than the initial estimate because of some configuration issues on our network, but the Cortexia team stayed involved until it was resolved."
Farah Azman
Logistics Manager, Shah Alam Distribution Centre

"The MES integration was the part I was most uncertain about — we had a fairly old system and I wasn't sure how well it would connect to a modern vision pipeline. Cortexia spent time understanding the interface before committing to the integration scope, which I thought was the right way to handle it. The connection works well and the quality data now flows directly into our production reports."

Detailed Project Outcomes

PCB Surface Defect Detection — Penang Electronics Manufacturer
Challenge
Manual inspection of populated PCBs was creating bottlenecks on two of three production shifts. Inconsistency between operators was leading to both missed defects and unnecessary rejections of conforming boards.
Solution
Cortexia deployed a visual inspection system trained on 1,400 labelled PCB images across eight defect categories. Four camera positions were optimised for solder joint and component placement checking. Output connected to the facility's MES for live dashboard reporting.
Results
- 93% precision on defect detection
- Consistent detection across all three shifts
- False rejection rate reduced by approximately 40%
- Deployment in 11 weeks from kick-off

Zone-Based Footfall Analytics — Multi-Outlet Retail
Challenge
A Selangor-based retail chain needed to understand shopper movement patterns across multiple outlets — specifically dwell time in promotional zones — to justify layout changes and negotiate with brand partners.
Solution
Object detection and multi-zone tracking deployed using existing ceiling cameras across three outlets. Custom zone mapping per outlet, with hourly aggregated dwell reports sent via API to the client's business intelligence platform.
Results
- Zone-level dwell data available from day one post-go-live
- No additional camera hardware required
- Layout changes informed by 6 weeks of data
- Deployment across 3 outlets in 8 weeks

Digital Asset Library Classification — KL Media Group
Challenge
A media organisation had accumulated over 200,000 images across twelve years, tagged inconsistently by different teams using different conventions. Search and retrieval was unreliable, creating workflow friction for editorial and sales teams.
Solution
A 34-category taxonomy was designed collaboratively with the editorial team. A classification model was trained and deployed as an internal API. The backlog of 200,000+ images was processed in batch; new uploads are classified at ingest automatically.
Results
- Full backlog processed in 4 days post-deployment
- 91% top-1 accuracy on held-out validation set
- Editorial search time reduced noticeably within first month
- Ongoing monitoring with quarterly review cadence agreed
